Tours in Australia

Tours in Australia you don’t want to miss (East Coast)

When you’re traveling to Australia it’s hard to miss: there are tons of different tours and they all look awesome. But which one of the tours in Australia are the ones you really shouldn’t miss? I’ll share the best tours on the East Coast in this article.

Cape Tribulation & Daintree

Cape Tribulation and Daintree

Would you like to spend a day in one of the oldest rainforests in the world? Then you definitely should make the tour to Cape Tribulation and the Daintree Forest. You’ll leave early in the morning from Cairns to Cape Tribulation. This is a small village in the Daintree Rainforest, one of the oldest rainforests in the world. A nice place to explore, especially the part where the rainforest meets the beach.

There’s a lot of animal species here you will find nowhere else in the world. If you’re lucky, you might see a cassowary, an ancient-looking big bird with a blue head. During the tour, you will also take a boat trip on the Daintree River, where you will see lots of crocodiles (also huge). If you’re not scared, it’s also possible to stay the night in Cape Tribulation for a nice night’s walk in the jungle.

Multi-day sailing trip to the Whitsundays

One of my favorite tours in Australia was a multi-day sailing trip to the Whitsunday Islands. These tours depart daily from Airlie Beach and you can book them everywhere in Australia. For the best experience: go on a small boat (no more than 20 persons). It might be a little more expensive, but at least you don’t end up on the party boats with people who only want to get drunk.

During the tour, you’ll explore a couple of the Whitsunday Islands (like the one with Whitehaven Beach on the picture) and you’ll go snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef multiple times. You’ll eat and sleep on the boat, while you’re watching dolphins, it’s absolutely amazing! If you’re lucky, you might even see more wildlife, like sharks, turtles, eagles, and whales.

Explore Fraser Island

This is the tour I still regret not taking because everybody I met who talked about this tour absolutely loved it. The Fraser Island Tour departs from either Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach and you can choose a day tour or a multi-day tour. Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world and you will explore the island in a 4WD. The landscape is very varied, you’ll find some nice beaches, but also mangroves, lakes, and rainforests. It’s also a nice tour if you are into seeing some wildlife, there are lots of different birds and you might see a dingo. Another great place in Australia you just have to explore.

Great Ocean Road

Great Ocean Road

Last but not least: the Great Ocean Road. You can explore it by yourself, but it’s way more fun to go on a tour (one day or multi-day) because you’ll learn so much! The tour starts in Melbourne and you will drive for a while on the Great Ocean Road, one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world. During the trip, you will make a lot of great stops, for watching wildlife (there are so many koalas!) and seeing the coastline. Highlights are the lighthouse at Cape Otway and the famous Twelve Apostles rock formation. A must-see when you’re in Melbourne.

These are my 5 favorite tours in Australia. Which one is your favorite?
