3 days in Seville: tips & itinerary

Seville is one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. Do you want to spend 3 days in Seville and are you wondering what to do? Check out these tips!

Why are 3 days in Seville perfect?

Seville, the capital of the Spanish region of Andalusia, is a city full of history, culture, and beautiful architecture. Three days is perfect for exploring this enchanting city. The city has a compact historic core with most attractions within walking or short biking distance. With a little planning, you can admire the city’s highlights, taste its unique atmosphere, and enjoy the local gastronomy.

Three days is enough time for it:

  • Visiting the main attractions such as the Cathedral, Real Alcázar, Plaza de España, Santa Cruz district, Metropol Parasol, and the Guadalquivir River.
  • Getting a taste of the local culture. Visit a flamenco performance, sample tapas at various bars, and stroll through charming neighborhoods such as Triana.
  • Soaking up the atmosphere by relaxing on a terrace in Plaza Nueva, taking a walk along the Guadalquivir, and enjoying the sunset at the Torre del Oro.

With so much to see and do, it can be difficult to come up with a perfect schedule for a three-day trip to this vibrant city. But don’t worry, I’ve already done the prep work for you and put together a perfect schedule for 3 days of Seville that strikes a fine balance between relaxing and exploring the many Seville sights.

3 days in Seville: itinerary

Are you curious about that itinerary? These are the best things to do in Seville per day.

Day 1: Alcázar & the Cathedral

Begin your first day in Seville with a visit to the breathtaking Real Alcázar de Sevilla. This magnificent Moorish palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will enchant you with its impressive architecture and beautiful gardens. Take time to stroll through the various halls and patios and learn more about the palace’s rich history.

Good to know: the Alcázar is one of the most popular attractions in Seville. It is wise to visit it as early in the day as possible. Book your tickets on time.

Since you’ll spend some time in the Alcázar exploring all the beautiful sites, you’ll probably have gotten quite an appetite after you’re done. It’s time for lunch! Near the Alcázar are plenty of nice restaurants, tapas bars, and cafes where you can taste authentic dishes of Spanish cuisine. Try local delicacies such as gazpacho, jamón ibérico and patatas bravas. One place where I had a fantastic meal is El Librero Tapas Y Quesos.

After lunch, walk on to Catedral de Sevilla, one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in the world. Don’t forget to climb the famous Giralda (the tower) for breathtaking views of the city. Inside the Cathedral you will also find the tomb of Christopher Columbus.

After your visit to the cathedral, it’s time to explore the Santa Cruz neighborhood. Stroll through the narrow streets and discover charming squares, cobbled streets, and colorful houses. Pop into a café from time to time for a drink and some tapas and end the evening here as well. Indeed, at night the neighborhood is even cozier thanks to the many beautiful lights.

Day 2: Art & flamenco

Begin your second day in Seville with a visit to Metropol Parasol, also known as the Setas de Sevilla. This impressive wooden structure offers stunning views of the city and also houses an archaeological museum.

Continue your day with a visit to the Museo de Bellas Artes, one of Spain’s most important art museums. Here you will find an extensive collection of paintings and sculptures ranging from medieval art to contemporary works.

The museum is free to visit for residents of the European Union. If you don’t live here, you pay €1.50. Check the official website for more information.

By now you’re probably hungry, so find a nice tapas bar or cozy restaurant in the old town and enjoy a delicious Spanish lunch.

After lunch, you will travel to the Triana neighborhood. It is known for its lively atmosphere and traditional flamenco scene. Stroll the narrow streets, visit the local market, and stop by one of the many flamenco bars to attend a traditional flamenco show. You’ll also find plenty of restaurants and cafes to grab a bite to eat.

If you still have energy left afterward, take an evening walk across the Puente de Isabel II bridge and enjoy the beautiful view of the city at sunset.

Day 3: Relax and enjoy

On your last day in Seville, it’s time to relax and enjoy the city. Start your day by visiting the beautiful Parque de María Luisa, a vast park with beautiful paths, exotic plants, and beautiful fountains.

From the park, it’s a short walk to the world-famous Plaza de España, one of the most beautiful squares in Spain. You can take a boat ride on the pond, admire the beautiful colorful benches, or just sit back and enjoy. There is also always live music or a flamenco performance.

For lunch, head to Casco Antiguo, the old city center. Stroll through the beautiful streets a little longer and enjoy a traditional paella in one of the many restaurants. Don’t forget to enjoy a glass of sangria to complete your meal.

After lunch, it is time to relax on the banks of the Guadalquivir River. Join a boat tour, rent a kayak or paddleboard, and enjoy the beautiful scenery as you glide across the water.

If you don’t feel like getting out on the water, you can also take beautiful walks along the river. Among other things, you will see the impressive Torre del Oro and Plaza de Toros.

Torre del Oro

Before dinner, dive into the narrow streets of cozy Santa Cruz one last time. A great ending to 3 days of Seville!

Seville has so much to offer that it can be difficult to see everything in just three days. But with this perfect schedule, you can find a good balance between exploring the sights and relaxing and enjoying the wonderful atmosphere of this incredibly beautiful city.

Best travel time for Seville

The best travel time for Seville depends on your preferences. Are you looking for pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds? Then visit the city in spring (April, May) or fall (September, October).

Do you prefer warm and sunny weather? Then summer (June, July, August) is perfect, provided you don’t shy away from the crowds. No problem with rain and prefer lower prices? Then consider winter (November, December, January, February).

I myself visited Seville in winter (December) and spring (March). Both times the weather was very pleasant and I didn’t think it was too bad in terms of crowds. In winter, it was very cozy at night thanks to all the colorful lights and Christmas decorations.
