About Lagos
Lagos is one of the most beautiful cities in the Algarve. It has a beautiful historic city center with several white churches, colorful street art, and many restaurants and cafes where you can try the delicious Portuguese food.
Lagos is located on the coast and has several beautiful beaches. The magnificent Praia do Camilo is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The Algarve has been named “World’s Leading Beach Destination” several times during the annual World Travel Awards.
Moreover, Lagos is home to the most famous rock formation in Portugal: Ponta da Piedade. Here you have spectacular views of the golden rocks in the blue ocean. I myself stay in Lagos for a few months every year and this is one of the places I visit several times a week, it is truly magnificent!
Lagos is also a good base for exploring the southwestern part of the Algarve. It is half an hour’s drive to the lively town of Portimão and just under 40 minutes drive to the relaxed surf town of Sagres. Near Sagres you will also find the spectacular Cape Saint Vincent, the most southwestern point of mainland Europe.
As you can see, Lagos is a perfect destination for a beach vacation and one of the best places to use as a base to explore even more beautiful places in southern Portugal.

The best B&Bs and hotels in Lagos Portugal
Lagos is a popular tourist destination and therefore there are many great places to stay in Lagos. B&Bs and hotels in Lagos are suitable for any budget, but they tend to be a bit more luxurious and pricey than in other cities in the Algarve.
Before booking a B&B or hotel in Lagos, it’s a good idea to look at its location. If you like to stay close to the beach, a hotel near Meia Praia or Praia de Porto Mós is highly recommended. If you like to eat out within walking distance and go out for a drink at night, I recommend finding accommodation in the city center or the marina.
During my last stay in Lagos, I visited several beautiful accommodations and there are some really special places among them. In this article, I will tell you all about the most beautiful B&Bs and hotels in Lagos Portugal.
Best B&Bs and hotels in center of Lagos
Lagos has a beautiful historic city center that is very pedestrian-friendly. The houses are white and often have colorful details, such as typical Portuguese azulejos (colored tiles). There is also a lot of street art on display. The center of Lagos is filled with good restaurants and cafes, and it’s a great place to go shopping.
Casa Mãe (5⭐)
Casa Mãe is one of the few hotels that’s located in the historic city center of Lagos and also one of the very best hotels in the Algarve. It is located on a quiet street right next to the old city wall. This area used to be a farm.
The hotel consists of several buildings. The (modern) main building houses the lobby, a store, a bar, and standard and superior rooms. Then there is Casa Mãe, a beautifully restored country house. Here you will find some beautiful suites that are perfect for a honeymoon. To top it off, there are also two “villas,” each with two bedrooms and a small private pool.
What makes Casa Mãe even more special are the spa, three(!) pools, and the huge fruit and vegetable garden. As a guest, you can pick your own fruit here (ask the staff which ones you can pick) and the vegetables are used in the restaurant. Casa Mãe might not be the cheapest but is definitely the most beautiful place to stay in Lagos.

Tivoli Lagos (4⭐)
Looking for an affordable hotel with a pool? Make sure to check out Tivoli Lagos. The hotel is conveniently located between the Marina and the old town. It has both an indoor and outdoor pool. The rooms are basic but clean and nicely furnished. In the summer months, there is a free shuttle to Meia Praia, as the hotel has its own beach club there.
The Salty Lodge
The Salty Lodge is one of my personal favorites in the old town of Lagos. The complex consists of several studios and apartments and is in a prime location on a street full of restaurants and bars.
The studios and apartments are modern and beautifully decorated. They did a great job of keeping the Lagos feeling and its proximity to the beach and sea in mind while designing the rooms.
All accommodations feature a fully equipped kitchen or kitchenette with appliances such as a dishwasher, oven, microwave, toaster, and kettle. Plus, in some rooms, you have the added luxury of a terrace or balcony overlooking the sea or city. A top spot!

3 Marias Garden House B&B
There are several cozy bed and breakfasts in the old town of Lagos, and 3 Marias Garden House B&B is one of the best. The B&B is in a quiet location against the old city wall (near Casa Mãe) and has a lovely garden. A great place to take a break after spending a day in de crowded city.
The rooms each have a private bathroom. There is also a kitchen for your use and a common living room with books and a television. You’ll feel right at home here!

Boutique Taghostel
In addition to all the luxury (resort) hotels, there are also accommodations in Lagos for budget travelers. Boutique Taghostel is one of them. This cozy hostel is in a good location between the Marina and the old town. The dormitories vary in size; there are rooms with 4, 6, and 8 beds.
There is a shared kitchen, living room, and a roof terrace with sea views. A perfect place to stay for solo travelers on a small budget.

Topcity Hostel & Suites
The second hostel in this list of best places to stay in Lagos is the Topcity Hostel. I went here once for a yoga class and was able to check out this hostel as a result. It is modern and cozy and has both dormitories and private rooms.
The hostel is in a good location in the center of Lagos, on a quiet street so you won’t be bothered by the noise of the bars. On the roof, you can take yoga classes. Ask the reception for more information.
The best thing about this hostel? There is also a swimming pool on the roof! From here you have amazing view of Lagos and Meia Praia.

Best hotels near the Lagos Marina
The marina and surrounding area are a great place to stay. There are plenty of restaurants and it is very close to public transportation. The bus station and train station are both just steps away. From the marina, it is a 10-minute walk to the city center, and also a 10-minute walk to the beach (Meia Praia).
Marina Club Lagos Resort (4⭐)
The Marina Club Lagos Resort is the only hotel actually located in the port of Lagos. It is a modern accommodation with studios, suites and apartments. Some rooms have balconies with nice views of the marina.
The hotel has a sizeable garden with a sun terrace and an outdoor swimming pool. A perfect place to stay if you plan to take one or more fun boat trips from Lagos.

Lagos Avenida Hotel (4⭐)
The Lagos Avenida Hotel is located on the waterfront, near the marina. What immediately stands out is the rooftop pool. The sides are glass, so you can see people swimming on the roof when you’re walking down the street. The hotel features spacious and modern rooms with a balcony or terrace.
It has a great location and is very easy to get to. The bus station is right next to the hotel and it’s just a 5-minute walk from the train station.

Hotel Marina Rio (4⭐)
Right next to the Avenida Hotel is another great 4⭐ hotel: Hotel Marina Rio. It is fairly similar to the Avenida Hotel but the prices are usually a bit lower. The rooms have modern furnishings and are very comfortable.
On the roof is a small outdoor pool and a sun terrace overlooking the marina.

Best B&Bs and hotels close to Meia Praia
Meia Praia is one of the longest beaches in Lagos and it is the perfect place to unwind. Don’t expect a busy urban area, it’s a quiet residential area, with several beach resorts and a few cozy guesthouses. The area even has its own train station: Meia Praia.
Palmares Beach House Hotel (5⭐)
If you are looking for a luxury hotel in Lagos in a quiet area near the beach, Palmares Beach House Hotel is the right place to stay. There are beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean from the spacious rooms and an outdoor pool and golf course.
It is a small hotel, it only has 20 rooms and 2 suites. They all have a large balcony overlooking the beach and sea. This is definitely one of the best luxury hotels in the Algarve.

Dom Pedro Lagos
Dom Pedro Lagos is one of the most outstanding hotels in Meia Praia. It is in a beautiful central location, near the beach. It is an aparthotel and consists of studios and apartments. Each room has a kitchenette or kitchen, which is very convenient if you don’t want to eat out every day. In addition, each accommodation has a balcony.
In front of the hotel is a large garden with a lawn full of palm trees. A wonderful place to sunbathe or take a dip in the freshwater of the outdoor pool. A great place for a Lagos beach vacation!

Guesthouse Our House
Guesthouse Our House is not very luxurious, but very cozy and overall a very comfortable place to stay. This small-scale accommodation is just a few minutes walk from extensive Meia Praia.
The spacious and bright rooms are nicely decorated with many natural elements. They all have private bathrooms and some rooms even have a terrace or balcony with sea views. The accommodation also has several fine common areas, including a kitchen, a sitting area, and a sun terrace.

Casa Eleonora b&b
Casa Eleonora B&B is a small bed and breakfast in a villa with only four rooms. It is in a quiet location on the east side of Lagos, behind the Marina and Meia Praia. It is a 15-minute walk from the B&B to the beach.
The B&B has comfortable rooms, each with a private bathroom. Outside is a large sun terrace with a refreshing outdoor pool. If you want to relax some more, you can book a special wellness package.

Best hotels near Ponta da Piedade & Praia Dona Ana
The area between the picturesque Praia Dona Ana and the impressive rock formation Ponta da Piedade consists of high cliffs and beautiful small beaches. The neighborhood behind it has mostly villas, but there are also some nice hidden hotels in the area.
Cascade Wellness Resort (5⭐)
The Cascade Wellness Resort is one of the most famous and notable resort hotels in Lagos. It is located in a quiet spot on the cliffs near Ponta da Piedade. The beautifully landscaped gardens contain a large outdoor swimming pool.

Costa d’Oiro Ambiance Village consists of several buildings, making it feel like an oasis of tranquility. The complex has both regular hotel rooms and large, well-equipped apartments. The hotel is close to two of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve: Praia Dona Ana and Praia do Camilo.

The beautiful boutique hotel Vivenda Miranda is the most beautiful hotel in the Praia de Porto Mós area. It is located on a cliff and you have a beautiful view of the blue ocean from here. Each room is uniquely decorated and has a balcony or terrace.
Outside, you can enjoy lush Mediterranean gardens and the wonderfully refreshing outdoor pool. The hotel has its own restaurant, where you can enjoy dishes prepared with fresh and local products and panoramic views. This is the perfect place for a romantic stay in Lagos.

Although the rooms are very modern, the rest of the hotel has old Portuguese elements, such as colorful tiles on the wall. Guests are very enthusiastic about the helpful staff at the hotel. A fine hotel if you don’t need too much luxury in a quiet area.
